Is Coaching Right For You?
Runners who get the most from Galloway Coaching
You don’t need a specific background — just a goal and a plan that fits your life.
You were training – maybe for a specific race, and something knocked you out. Now you need a plan that accounts for where your body actually is, not where it was six months ago. Chris specializes in rebuilding training plans around recovery timelines.
You have a target race on the calendar and you want to hit a real number – a PR, a Boston qualifier, or a finish time you’d be proud of. A customized plan with pacing built in gets you there more reliably than a generic schedule.
You’ve been running for a while but your times aren’t improving, or every training cycle ends the same way – tired, sore, frustrated. A fresh set of eyes on your approach, your pacing, and your weekly structure can break the pattern.
You’re new to running or coming back after a long break. You don’t want to get hurt, and you don’t want to spend months on the wrong plan. Coaching gives you structure and accountability from day one.
The Coaching Team
Meet Your Coaches
Each coach brings deep experience with the Galloway method — different personalities, specialties, and backgrounds. Find your fit.

Chris Twiggs
Chris Twiggs has coached thousands of runners through Galloway Training Programs — from first-time 5K runners to Boston qualifiers and ultra-marathoners. He’s RRCA-certified, a Boston Qualifier himself, and an accomplished ultra-runner.
What sets Chris apart is that he builds your plan around your life. Had surgery mid-training? He’ll rebuild your schedule. Only have three days a week? That’s the program. His approach: meet you where you are, give you a plan that works, and adjust it when things change.
+ Customized Plus Coaches +
These coaches work exclusively with Customized Plus clients – each brings their own specialties, background, and approach to the Galloway method.

Cheri Whitt
Your Fun Coach
After a life-threatening illness in 2013, Cheri relearned how to walk before discovering Jeff Galloway’s Run‑Walk‑Run® method. She’s now run 130+ marathons injury-free — including Dopey, and her mission is helping others achieve goals they once thought were impossible.
Best for: Runners coming back from illness, injury, or a long break who need a coach who genuinely understands the comeback.

Brendan Twiggs
Speed + Strategy
As the son of Galloway Chief Training Officer, Chris Twiggs, Brendan grew up inside the method. A former University of Tampa athlete with a 15:39 5K PR, he ran a 2:51 marathon at Walt Disney World using a 6:00/0:30 run-walk strategy — proving the Galloway method works at every level.
Best for: Runners with competitive goals who want to get faster without abandoning the method.

Betsy Magato
Versatility + Consistency
With 30+ years of competitive running and 10+ years of coaching experience, Betsy holds RRCA and VDOT O2 certifications. She specializes in helping runners of all abilities balance training with busy lives so they stay consistent, healthy, and ready to achieve more than they thought possible.
Best for: Busy runners of any ability who want a coach with genuine competitive depth, and a training approach that keeps them healthy, consistent, and in the sport for the long haul.

Amy Magdalein
Strength + Endurance
RRCA Level II certified with additional Galloway, McMillan, and strength coaching credentials, Amy incorporates runner-specific strength work into every plan. She’s completed 100+ half marathons, 30 marathons, and an ultra — and truly loves helping runners become healthier, stronger, and more confident.
Best for: Runners who want strength training integrated into their plan, or who’ve dealt with recurring injury linked to muscular imbalances.
Built on Jeff Galloway’s
Run‑Walk‑Run® Method
Jeff Galloway — Olympian, bestselling author, and the creator of the Run‑Walk‑Run® method, developed an approach to running that has helped hundreds of thousands of runners finish races injury-free. The method uses strategic walk breaks to reduce impact, prevent overuse injuries, and help runners maintain pace longer.
Every plan Chris builds applies this method to your specific race, pace, and schedule. It’s not about running less. It’s about running smarter.
Results
What Runners Are Saying
Real runners. Real results.
I had never run a step prior to my retirement at age 60. I’m now 62 and have run 42 races, including three marathons and three ultra marathons, all without injury.
Jacqueline
42 races • 3 marathons • 3 ultras • zero injuries
Surgery stopped my training for months. Chris put together a plan customized for me. When I asked how far behind I was, he said I wasn’t behind; this was my plan. What a huge confidence boost.
Thanks to Galloway Customized Training, I transformed from a non-runner to completing an ultramarathon. The personalized plan and support from Coach Twiggs have been my anchor during challenging moments.
When I started running in December 2020, I thought I would never run more than a 5K. Since finding the program in 2022, I have completed 3 marathons, 14 half marathons, and many shorter distances. My speed is improving.

Do I need to be an experienced runner?
No. Coaching works for runners at every level — from complete beginners to experienced marathoners looking to improve. Chris builds your plan around where you are right now.
How many days per week will I need to train?
The standard program is built around a 3-day training week. Chris may recommend additional cross-training days depending on your goals, but the core commitment is three days.
What if I get injured or need to take time off during training?
Your plan adjusts. This is one of the biggest advantages of customized coaching — if life changes, your training changes with it. Chris has rebuilt plans for runners recovering from surgery, illness, and schedule disruptions.
What distances can I train for?
Any distance from 5K through marathon and beyond. Chris has coached runners through ultras as well.
What’s the difference between coaching and a local training group?
Local Galloway Training Groups are in-person, group-based programs led by certified directors in about 50 cities. They’re a great option if you want weekly group accountability and a structured schedule. Coaching with Chris is 1-on-1, fully customized to your specific goals, and delivered virtually — so it works from anywhere.
How is this different from the Galloway 360 membership?
Galloway 360 ($9.99/month) gives you access to training plans, courses, a video library, and community support — it’s self-guided with resources built on the Galloway method. Coaching is a 1-on-1 relationship with a dedicated training director who builds and adjusts your plan personally.
