Improving the Running & Walking Experience - for you!
See
past issues of this newsletter
I will be celebrating my 50th year of running, in 2008-and I enjoy
running more than ever. I'm one of the growing number of runners
who've continuously run for over 25 years with no significant joint
problems. I know that you hear a lot of un-founded negative comments
from non-runners about running. If you're looking for research showing
that runners have better joint health than non runners, see Running
Until You're 100. This is my current goal.
Running gave me the vitality and focus to change from a fat and
lazy 13 year old. My daily run energizes me to help others change
their life in a positive direction. I want to thank the thousands
of you who have emailed or told me your success stories, questions
and problems. You have provided me with the proof of the methods.
New running movies are listed in this newsletter, a job opportunity
at Galloway Productions, and lots of tips that can help you enjoy
every run-injury-free. Please join us at our beach retreats February
8-10, Feb 22-24, and March 21-23-and a running school in Fayetteville,
AR on January 26.

Running Movies
There are three running documentary movies that very few people
have heard about-but are quite good. Two were produced by my son
Brennan. The other is about the history and the power of the marathon
and will have a debut in 500 theatres in late January.
THE SPIRIT OF THE MARATHON is the first full-length documentary
on the classic race and has lots of interesting people and footage
about this "right of passage" that runners undertake.
For information on this one night showing on January 24th, visit
www.marathonmovie.com. Jon Dunham did a good job in production.
FIVE THOUSAND METERS tells the journey of 9 men trying to make the
2004 Olympic Team-mostly in their own words. It has become a cult
favorite among runners and coaches. Having going through this experience
myself, I was very pleased to find that the movie accurately presented
the struggles and the rewarding moments. Produced by Brennan Galloway
and Carl Leivers. Available at www.negativesplit.net for $19.95.
INDULGENCE is the story of an ultra marathoner, Anton Krupicka-two
time winner of the Leadville (CO) 100 miler. Beautiful scenery,
interesting ideas and philosophy are all blended nicely. Produced
by Brennan Galloway and Alex Nichols. It's available at www.negativesplit.net
and there will be a showing during the Disney Marathon weekend.
Cramped for time? Just run for 10 minutes.
Let's say that you don't have 30 minutes on a easy day. It is much
better to run for 10 minutes on these days, than to let 3 or more
days go by without a run. More info

How to gain weight healthfully
Not all kids are fat. In fact, many are skinny and struggle to eat
enough calories for both sports and growth. To gain weight, your
child needs to consume more calories than he is currenting eating.
